Re-introducing Terry Garret, The Blind Man Who Beats Oddworld Games

After perfecting Exoddus, Terry's making his way through New 'n' Tasty.

Long time fans of Oddworld – or fans of seriously impressive gaming feats – might remember Terry. We talked to him before, back in 2011 when he had finished Abe’s Exoddus.

Well, Terry recently started playing through Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty so we thought it was time to catch up with him and make a new video showing some of his skills and learning a little more about him.

We were keen to know more about Terry, to gauge his inspirations and motivations. He’s got a busy schedule these days, having graduated and begun his career as a software engineer. In 2013, he competed in the Boulder 70.3, a half ironman competition in his native Colorado and also mentions that “fell in love with the sport of Crossfit.”

He highlights the importance of stereo audio design and New ‘n’ Tasty, saying that “it is definitely easier to tell where objects are.” While the smoother scrolling makes judging distance more difficult, the “greatest addition to a blind player” is the quick save function that was missing from the original Abe’s Oddysee.

Terry’s ability and passion for Oddworld has really inspired us and we’d like to thank him for his continued love for our games and his persistent ability to impress us with his gaming skill.

You can keep up with Terry’s progress through New ‘n’ Tasty on his YouTube channel.
