Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty GDC Gameplay Trailer, New Screenshots

Abe Is Back, and Odder than ever.

GDC New 'n' Tasty gameplay trailer

The moment has come! Everyone here at Oddworld is super excited to finally be able show you the first gameplay footage from Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty—the complete ground-up remake of the much loved Abe’s Oddysee—since we demoed it live way back on Sony’s stage at E3 2013.

And let me tell you, we’ve been busy little Gabbits since then. Just see for yourself!

Indeed, during that time we’ve been working incredibly hard on every aspect of New ‘n’ Tasty, making sure it plays perfectly and looks and sounds as good as we can make it. Visually, we’ve made every part of New ‘n’ Tasty from scratch – not a single part of Oddysee remains, and we’re certain fans new and old will love what we’ve done.

Hopefully you’ll agree that New ‘n’ Tasty is looking spectacular, and we can’t wait to show you more soon.

To celebrate the explosive gameplay trailer, we’re also delighted to show you these gameplay screens that show off the game’s stunning dynamic lighting and special effects, and give a few tasters as to the sheer scale and breadth of visuals we’ve managed to get into New ‘n’ Tasty.

There’s much, much more to come, and we’ll be talking more about the game in the following weeks. We’re committed to making New ‘n’ Tasty the game everyone wants to play, and we truly hope we’ve managed to excite you with this gameplay taster and screenshots released today.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will be out soon for PlayStation 3, PlayStation VITA, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Windows, Mac and Linux. For more information, turn your eyes to our New ‘n’ Tasty game page and keep them locked on for further updates.

By the looks of the GDC trailer, there doesn’t seem to be any atmospheric particle effects applied to some levels, giving the environment less of an alive impression. Will there be more particle effects incorporated to the finished product?

I’m majorly excited for this! The Scrab sounds so wrong though, like a tiger or something. Their classic shriek was truly terrifying! Please don’t change it!

I noticed in Screen #2 and #5, that the other worker Mudokons don’t have ponytails as they did in Oddysee and Exoddus. What is the reasoning behind this?

No better way to demoralize your staff than to have them all shaved! They’ll be no opportunies to express your personality or culture in THESE farms. It’s a wonder Abe gets away with it. That’s Employee of the Year status for you. Totally lording it over the rest of us poor schmucks. Just you wait, he’ll get it caught in some heavy machinery, THEN we’ll see who looks swaggier.

Aw man, soooo excited! It looks and sounds phenomenal. Love the dynamic deaths, and very interested to find out the significance of the steam in that second screen… looks to be the new shadow system, or maybe something more?

Looks way better than what I anticipated! Is the PC version going to require Steam?
