Turn down your brain cogs and switch off your imagination, the contest to determine the final name for Abe’s Oddysee HD has come to a close. No more submissions will be accepted, and phew, is that a relief! In the single week the contest has been alive, more than four-and-a-half thousand entries have reached our inboxes.
Thank you to every last participant; thank you so much for making us look through so many thousands of ideas. Given the number of submissions, it’s going to take us some time to go through all the suggestions, but we still hope to announce a winner in the near future.
In the meantime, here’s a special little something we threw onto our official Facebook Page yesterday, and let me tell you the response has been staggering! We were suppose to wait until the end of September, but here’s a sneaky screenshot of a work-in-progress environment from Abe’s Oddysee HD. Don’t forget these are early days with a lot more work to be done. And remember that Lorne Lanning and Just Add Water will be giving the world’s first demonstration of gameplay at Eurogamer Expo next month.
One thing that would be AMAZING would be for it to have a level editor/designer

We haven’t confirmed any platforms yet, but we’re aiming for release next year.
hey alf, after the HD of oddysee (maybe exodus too) does there gonna be another 2D game?
i really like the 2D games better than the 3D ones.
plus is this game gonna support 1630×768?
We can’t say what we’re doing after Abe HD, nor what systems it will support.
I hope you are using the original voice actors for all of the hd voices!!!! Because I loved all of the old gamespeak sounds and thought they added tons to that all important feel to the game.

It was an exciting time, and I’m very sorry you couldn’t make it. Lorne signed a whole bunch of things and he and Stew chatted with the fans. Then there was a Q&A session, and then there were some merch giveaways. We’re hoping that there’ll be footage available sometime in the not-too-distant future.
So who was this person who won the naming contest? I recommended New ‘N’ Tasty but guess I wasn’t the only one then…
