“A game world that keeps bettering itself, until some kind of disbelief sets in.” – Edge Magazine

Tall, dark, and passive-aggressive, a Stranger is lured out of routine bounty hunting by the prospect of a one time, bounty-to-end-all bounties moolah maker. He’s got a short but pricey personal shopping list and he’s finally found a way to check it off.

With his moolah on his mind, our Stranger travels from town to town facing off with mentally challenged Outlaws, violently ignorant Clakkerz, and paranoid, relic-hiding native Grubbs. Welcome to the Mongo River Valley, the irony mining capital of the continent.

Upstream is Sekto Springs, the bottled water company suckling the life out of the valley. Mr. Sekto has damned the river and the habitat it sustains. A collector of rare Steef heads, Sekto has put word out that he’s in the market for Steef. These majestic beasts once roamed the Mongo River Valley in great herds, but now their scarcity makes each one an extravagant prize. High atop the springs at Sekto Springs Dam, the slimy prima donna waits impatiently for the Steef bounty to be delivered.

Armed with his trusty double-barrel crossbow and a pack full of Live Ammo, Stranger is ready to deliver said bounty when a humbling incident with the local outlaws serves as a severe reminder of what it means not only to hunt, but also to be hunted. The prospect of being filleted brings many changes to an inhabitant. Changes that even modern Vykker science cannot duplicate! Not one to pose as garnish, he makes it up to Sekto Springs all right, but Sekto and his Wolvarks get their Steef served up with a frothy can of whoop arse, prepared by our beloved hombre-sin-nombre. Yes folks, Oddworld just got Stranger.

If the announcement today, 2:00 PM GMT (and not delayed for any reason) it has to do with the release date of Stranger’s Wrath.

    Or so I think…

Well, That’s the announcement I am waiting on. Pull up your World GMT Time zone map and see what time to check into Oddworld.com (or here or wherever you get your Oddworld news.)

Now, there’s going to be people who will rush out, DL the game, play it straight through and post wherever they post and proclaim they Beat SW on hard, with one hand and blindfolded. 1st twenty-four hours are going to be silly…

Why do that? Where’s the fun? How about playing a game just to be playing it. Enjoy the work the developers put into it. Stop, look around. smell the bushes (or any flowers that may be there.) Just enjoy the game!

I like to bounty each and every outlaw I can find. Not only more Moolah, but you get to see different areas of the game you might not have seen before.

What did I hear? Something like over one-hundred different accolades for SW when it first came out? You can bet that those that wrote the articles, nominated SW or whatever, etc… didn’t just blast through the game.

Play the game, have some fun, and don’t just beat it to say you beat it.

See ya at 2:00 PM GMT!

I can’t wait for the HD version to be released (I bought the oddboxx on steam).

But I am still a bit confused on how it will work. Will it be a massive update that ‘overwrites’ the existing files as such or will it accompany it and ‘allow’ you to choose HD?

Just bought the Oddboxx on Steam as well. When I play Stranger’s Wrath, I get the error that I cannot save the game. What’s wrong?

Weird, this shouldn’t be happening in the latest update. Check that you’ve downloaded all the updates through Steam. At what point do you get the error message?

I’m not sure…it’s on my laptop so if my graphics card (or lack of one) was the issue, I wouldn’t be surprised. It says my subscore for gaming graphics is a 5.1 so not that good. My graphics card is good enough to play game like The Old Republic so I figured I could handle this game.

Stranger’s Wrath for PC uses OpenGL which it turns out a lot of cards, chipsets and drivers and just not good at interpreting. This includes Intel and ATI. We’ve been hoping they’d fix their own bugs, but it’s been almost a year and they have not. Hopefully we can switch to a better-supported alternative when Stranger HD hits PC.

So I just recently bought Stranger’s Wrath, and I was wondering, does it work properly (if at all) on the Intel HD integrated graphics for laptops? If not, that’s fine, I’ll have it in my repertoire for my next, more powerful PC, and it’s nice to be able to support my favorite developers :)

Currently Stranger’s Wrath for PC uses OpenGL, which Intel chipsets don’t support properly. This might change when Stranger HD is released.

Oh, that’s good to know, I definitely hope that I’ll be able to run it when Stranger HD gets released, as this is by far my favorite Oddworld game. Great job guys, keep up the good work. :)
